On Five Fingers: – Empowering You By Making Your Healthcare Data Digitised

According to WHO, thousands of deaths occur in the world due to unavailability of proper medical records of the Patient. It can be hospitals fault or an individuals but either way nobody is to blame for it.

In a digitised era like we live in it is of utmost importance that we address this problem with digitised solution. Storing of medical records of a user on secure and safe storage is the best solution to this problem. These records must be stored on cloud platforms so that the user can access them from anywhere at any given moment. The hospitals and labs can directly feed data onto the cloud and never be worried about the misplacing of the medical records of an individual.

This has been brought into action by company based in India from Allahabad named On Five Fingers. On Five Fingers is the first company in India to provide this kind of robust cloud architecture for health management platform.

However, the team is extremely skilled and dedicated to manage such a big platform with continuous improvements. They have already spread their footprints by getting members from more than 10 states and offering their services successfully. They founded this company in 2015 and registered as DIPP (start-up) in Allahabad, UP, and within 2 years they launched beta version, subsequently in the year of 2019 they had launched their first paid membership with integrated lab services at highly discounted rates to their members. Initial Challenges

The initial challenge which ONFF faced was to convince users to start using online health portal. In India still majority of people take their health for granted and they only seek healthcare services when they are in need. That was the most challenging phase to start engaging customers and make them aware that they can manage their health as well, if they keep their info available to process and generate analytics.

The second challenge ONFF had faced was to seek service providers who will have trust and confidence on them to provide best offering to their customers. Big brands in healthcare tend to avoid collaborations with upcoming / start-up in healthcare industry.

Building A Brand Worthy Of Customer Attention And Sustainable Usage

They started their journey in 2015 and did extensive research and survey to understand the gap in healthcare service providers and what an individual would be looking in such platform. Based on that strong foundation they started building their own system and on launch they received warm welcome from community.

ONFF was able to differentiate from other service providers by keeping system easy, user friendly and focused around user’s need. And, that helped ONFF grow faster and motivated to launch their paid membership in next 3 years. They were able to get associated with India’s leading lab service provider. Within a year, ONFF  made strong user base for paid membership. ONFF says “Thanks to all our users who made ONFF a brand”.

In Favour Of Invention

When we interviewed Jaya Kumar, Director On Five Fingers, she had some interesting views on innovation in heathcare sector.

“Technology is assumed to be a path breaker and a driving force behind the developments in the healthcare, which is really evident by the rate of change and the recent innovations within this sector. Technology is impacting many aspects of our lives as breakthroughs in research, treatment and data collection and storage. Digital transformations are helping us to move from unsustainable healthcare systems to sustainable ones, narrowing down on the relationship between medical professionals and patients; provide cheaper, fast paced and efficient solutions to the ailments. Having said that, digitalization of medical records have replaced outdated paper records, manual storage and management of medical data, sure, but there still are kinks that need to be ironed in terms of effective management of the medical data that have been created digitally. As the complete lifecycle of healthcare data maintenance suggests:

Data Acquisition Data EntryData Maintenance Data Synthesis Data Access

We have taken great strides in digitizing the first two steps in the cycle, but still struggling in the remaining steps in terms of lack of interconnectivity and fluidity within these steps. Healthcare withholds and requires storage of huge amount of data every single second. Hence the need of the hour is to have a platform that provides expandable, cost-effective and safe storage solutions. ONFF attempts to meet this requirement of the customer. We understand the importance of our patient’s medical records and have created a platform that treats their data with utmost care. Our vision is to use that data and serve our customer’s with insights based on their data so that they can get actionable outcomes. We are moving in a direction that unifies all the aspects of Healthcare and make Healthcare as accessible and secure as your typical financial data.”

Current Prospects And What’s In Store For ONFF

When asked about any ideas they have been working on Jaya Kumar had some insights for us, “Yes, there are two areas where we are working to facilitate more to our users. First is to provide them predictive analysis so that they can see their health predictions. And secondly, we are working to include more AI based services to provide second opinion based on AI tools.”

Jaya also shared some innovative collaboration plans they have been seeking, “Yes, we are actively seeking AI based service providers who can help us to integrate to provide analysis e.g. x-ray, ultrasound, etc. We are approaching them, however currently facing challenge to generate their interest in us. Moreover, some of the service providers are still making their product to maturity level, so it seems we need to wait for some to have such services available in marketspace.”

Building A Successful Customer Base

Customers are attracted to any business more often than not due to their workforce and support, that’s why it’s important firstly to have a productive and user friendly work culture. At ONFF, their Work culture strictly follow one of the core values, “Respect Individuals”.

They are conducting several surveys to engage people and understand what they need. This is one of key for ONFF to start seeking ideas and engage people in early phase before they launch any services. Very recently they completed survey for their upcoming membership. This is helping ONFF to spread their services in user community. Further to this they received new customers by referring existing customers which was another key for them to build active user base.

Achievements

ONFF has been in existence for just over 4 years now and they have already started to earn the confidence from their customers. Apart from this they have launched paid membership and have active members who are very happy with the services.

They are designing their next membership with more precise services at less cost and shall be launching in Q3 FY20. They will be coming with new membership as brand itself with new look and feel and new services.
