AI to monitor windows 10 Updates

Microsoft announced that it will be using Artificial Intelligence to prioritize the time of updating windows 10 devices. Some users have positive experience with the previous updates but remaining have experienced that updates generally take too long to install and don’t give much of a notice or choice. To solve this problem, AI came to the aid of Microsoft. AI continues to be a key area of investment for Microsoft and they leveraged its use in enhancing its users experience in update process.

Microsoft claims that it can greatly improve the quality and reliability of the windows 10 update rollouts. This AI was first implemented in April-2018 update. Their AI approach intelligently selects devices whose feedback data indicates that they would have a great update experience and offers updates to this devices first. As this roll-out goes on progressing, data is collected by Microsoft and the AI models are retrained in order to improve performance effectiveness of AI leveraged update process. Overall, rollout objective is for a safe and reliable update, which means they only go as fast as is safe.

Their AI/Machine learning approach started with a pilot program during the windows 10 fall update rollout. In which they studied the characteristics of devices that data indicated had a great update experience and they trained their model to spot and target those devices. In their trials, they consistently saw a higher rate of positive update experiences for devices identified using the AI Model. Microsoft reported that after employment of AI for updates it had fewer rollbacks, uninstalls, reliability issues, and negative user feedback.
