Work and Challenges

Like every other successful Enterprise, they also faced so many challenges. The biggest challenge faced is the taboo associated with mental health. The real fact is that mental health problems are extremely common, some people suffer from diabetes, others from blood pressure, etc., and some people suffer from depression, yet there is a taboo associated with depression and other mental health problems.

Also, they have built a very successful Reputation by focusing on the needs of the Patients. They work 7 days a week from 9 AM to 9 PM because according to them, the patient comes first. They are available for patients even on weekends to help them with their mental health issues. Dr. Kohli and the team of doctors working under her guidance have become a brand by the quality of work that has been done.

Introduction of TECH in the field of Clinical Psychology

To make continuous interaction with patients, they are in the process of developing an AI-based app for mental health issues. Patients will be able to get the first level of understanding and treatment from the app. Since the app is AI-based, it can self-learn, and once the database of the “patient interactions” will continuously grow. To make it possible they are seeking investments from angel investors and venture capitalists.

The Mission

The mission and vision of the company are to provide mental health to every individual who needs it. No one needs to go untreated. During counselling, one of the most common struggles they see is children undertaking tasks to please their parents. Parents have the best interest at heart for their children but most of the time they don’t realize that children too, have their aspirations and dreams. Due to this miscommunication, students place an insurmountable amount of pressure on themselves which leads to stress, depression & anxiety in their life. The overall statistics around mental health in India are alarming.

  • A student commits suicide every hour in India
  • Every 3 seconds there is an attempted suicide in India
  • 22.4% of the Indian population above the age of 18 years in age suffer from substance use disorder
  • Over 56.7 million people in India suffer from Depression
  • Only 0.06% of the health care budget in India is spent on Mental Healthcare
  • There is a severe shortage of specialists in India, there are only 4000 psychiatrists, 3500 psychologists, and 3500 mental health social workers
  • While 150 million Indians need mental health care, only 30 million are seeking care

Dr. Prerna Vadra Kohli says I agree with Albert Einstein when he says that “Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.” As a society, we need to teach and support our future generations to be happy. As happiness is not attained but created.
